CAPA-CANAL emerges from the popular popular Brazilian saying “feito nas coxas”, a phrase used in Brazil to express that something is “badly done” and that it finds its origin in activities related to slavery.
The piece, started with an action / performance in which thirteen people of different races and sex – a sample of the Brazilian’s heterogeneity – will model 500 clay tiles are the legs; assisted by assistants who will place the plates on their thighs and then remove them to put them on the dry on the floor. The action refers to the old production system in which the tiles were made by hand on the thighs of the slaves, always resulting in irregular pieces.
